Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds fast track referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.

Patient Transport Services is a non-emergency service that provides hospital transport for patients to and from hospital appointments. It is only provided for patients who have very specific needs and fit the eligibility criteria.
You are eligible for PTS if:
- · You have a medical condition that requires the skills and support of PTS staff during the journey, or if travelling by other means would have a negative impact on your condition or recovery
- Your medical condition affects your mobility so that you can’t access healthcare by yourself, or if travelling by other means would have a negative impact on your condition or recovery.
Eligibility for PTS is determined by our non-clinically trained staff members who work within locally agreed guidelines set out by Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group.

Dr. Mone to retire at the end of March.
After 27 years in the practice Dr. Mone is to retire at the end of March.
It has not been an easy decision, says Dr. Mone, but I realise it is the right time for me. There comes a time when you realise that you have to cut back on what you do. That is how it is for me. Although I am retiring from full time general practice, I will continue to work in the Musculoskeletal Service for Mid Yorkshire and, most probably, I will work some sessions as a GP in the district on top of that.
He added, I have been blessed by having wonderful people to work with who have shown me support and friendship and always have and will work hard to be the best they can to provide quality general practice to their patients. The patients have been wonderful and have accepted me (I can think of no higher accolade) as an honorary Yorkshire man, although my love for sport and rugby league in particular does help. It has been a privilege to part of this community and I wish you every health and good wishes for the future, safe in the knowledge that the practice is the most capable hands possible.
