Nursing Team

Our practice nursing team work alongside our community nursing colleagues to provide an integrated and high quality service to our patients both at the surgery and at home.

In addition to general nursing duties, our nurses have specialist areas, including chronic disease management, health promotion, family planning, and travel vaccinations. Community nurses offer nursing needs to those who are hosuebound. Health visitors support families with children under the age of five. To find out more, clik the Our Services tab.

Ann Bateson

Nursing Co-ordinator

BSc (hons), RGN, Asthma Diploma, COPD course, Diabetes Care Diploma.

  • Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Prescriber

Ann trained at Shefield Royal Hospital and qualifed as a Registered Nurse in 1978. She worked on the Acute Medicine ward for a year before moving to Akton Hospital where she gained experience in Dermatology.

When Akton Hospital closed Ann moved to Pontefract Hospital, working in General Medicine until 1995 when she joined Gneral Practice as a Practice Nurse. Ann completed her Practice Nursing Degree in 2002 and began working as a Specialist Practtioner completing her Non-Medical Prescribing qualification in 2007.

Ann is the Practice’s Lead Nurse for Respiratory and Diabetes Services and has completed specialised training in Asthma, COPD and Diabetes. She is also the Influenza Vaccination Programme Lead for the Practice.

Sandra Greenwood

Patients can see Sandra as an alternative to seeing a GP.

Sandra trained at Pinderfield Hospital in 1983 as an Orthopaedic Nurse then at York District Hospital for General Nursing in 1985, working on the peaditarics ward before joining the community team. She trained as a Health Visitor in 1990, moving to Ferrybridge in 1995 and joining the Practice as Team Co-ordinator in 2001. Sandra completed Nurse Practtitoner Training at Masters level in 2002.

Sandra developed the Nurse-led triage service and led the Intergrated Nursing Team, she now works 1 day per week for Wakefield CCGas a Nurse Advisor.

She has completed specialised training in Asthma, Family Planning, COPD and has extensive experience in Diabetes, Counselling Skills, Paediatrics and Health Promotion.

Sandra is also a Nurse Prescriber.

Catherine Beaumont

Nurse Practitioner.

Catherine trained at Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals NHS trust and qualified in 1993, working in respiratory medicine, acute medicine and accident and emergency. She then became Ward Sister on the medical assessment unit at Pontefract for 5 years before becoming a Clinical Site Manager at Pinderfields for a year. Catherine left the hospital to become a Community Matron for 7 years, initially at Normanton then laterly at Knottingley and Ferrybridge. Catherine joined the practice in May 2014 as a Nurse Practitioner. Her specialist interests are respiratory disease, elderly care and complex disease management. Catherine’s outside interests are horse riding and squash. She has her own horse called Dancer and she plays squash locally at Pontefract squash and leisure club

Annette Ford

Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Annette trained as a General Nurse at Pinderfields 1982-1985 and as a Midwife in 1988. She started work in General Practice as a Practice Nurse in 1990 acuiring specialist qualifications in Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Asthma, Family Planning and Cytology. In 2006 Annette under took a Masters Degree at Huddersfield University and obtained her MSC Nurse Practioner qualification in 2007. Annette sees patients presenting with illness and diagnoses and manages them. She can prescribe, order investigations and refer to other health specialities if needed.

Having worked in General Practice in Receptionist and Adminstrative roles, Lynne knew after completing her Registered Nurse training in January 2014 that she wanted to work as a Practice Nurse. Her current role within the Practice includes unkertaking dressings and wound care, taking blood samples, carrying out health checks, health promotion, blood pressure monitoring, weight monitoring, vaccinisation and immunistation, and ECG’s. Lynne is undertaking training to add new skills in areas such as travel health, ear care and cervical screening.

Andrea Hill

Practice Nurse

Andie currently works part time as a Practice Nurse. During her nursing career her main experience has included General Surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat and Palliative Care. For the previous 9 years Andie has worked as a Community Staff Nurse covering the Ferrybridge area so may well have met you or your family as part of this role. In 2013 the opportunity arose for Andie to join the practice team, her main knowledge and skill areas include general wound care, leg ulcer management and ear care.

Monique Mullikin

Healthcare Assistant

Monique was born in Holland and completed her nursing training (EN) in Enschede. She relocated to the UK in 1997 and in 2003 joined Ferrybridge Medical Centre as a Dispensing Receptionist. This role expaned to become a Clinical Receptionist, then in 2006 she moved into the Intergrated Nursing Team becoming a Healthcare Assistant. She carries out blood tests, Blood pressure tests, ECG’s, dressings, urine tests, Flu vaccinations and B12 injections. Monique is tri-lingual speaking Dutch, German and English.

Helen Atkinson

Healthcare Assistant

Helen joined the Practice in 2009 after working as a Phlebotomist at Pontefract General Infirmary for 7 years. Shortly after she joined the Practice she trained as a Healthcare Assistant and now carries out blood tests for both adults and children, blood pressure checks, ECG’s, woundcare, Flu and Pneumonia vaccinations and B12 injections. Helen has also recently completed specialist training and now works as part of the diabetic team.
